A letter from Brion Gysin in the Beat Hotel, 9 rue Gît-le-Cœur, Paris to Roger Knoebber (likely in San Francisco, California, possibly Florida). This letter is written in multiple colors on the back of a prospectus for Henri Chopin's "Cinquieme Saison", which advertises issue 20/21, which includes Brion Gysin.

This reads:

Dear Roger

Arrival of yourself eagerly awaited in late May [overwritten: “late April”]?

Just had miserable news that my show with Wm. in Germany has been indefinitely postponed. Wm. was finally all set to come & meet me there. Don’t know what happens, now.

Haven’t gone to get the sexy seegars as no bread, no brea… no b…

As usual, but the moans over the death of picture business in Paris rend the air from all sides.

Hope to have shows in Italy, somehow – but must admit I am still at a stand still.

Give my love to the Smart-Nicks and hurry on down.

Love,
Brion

P.T.O.

Notes:

"seegars": Cigars. Roger Knoebber was in Florida for a time, and started a cigar company.
